More Breakouts (Purging)
I'm breaking out more than before I started using the product.

Why This Happens
When you start using active exfoliants (like salicylic acid) or deep-cleansing products (like clay masks), they can accelerate the turnover of clogged pores. This means existing clogs that were forming under the surface are brought up faster — a process sometimes called "purging." It's temporary and is actually a sign the product is working.
Normal — No Action Needed
- •Breakouts appear in areas where you usually get them
- •Pimples come to a head faster and resolve more quickly than usual
- •The breakout pattern improves after 2–4 weeks
- •No new breakout in areas you've never had acne before
Warning — Take Action
- •Breakouts appear in entirely new areas where you never break out
- •Breakouts are getting progressively worse after 4+ weeks
- •Accompanied by widespread redness, itching, or rash
- •Painful cystic bumps that weren't there before
What to Do
Continue your routine for at least 2–4 weeks before judging results
Don't add more actives to try to "fix" the purging — keep it simple
Use the spot treatment on individual active pimples to speed up healing
Ensure you're not over-exfoliating (no more than one acid product per routine)
Keep skin hydrated to support the healing process
When to Stop and Seek Help
If breakouts are getting worse after 4 weeks, appearing in new areas, or accompanied by pain/swelling/rash, stop the suspect product. Simplify to a gentle cleanser and moisturizer. If deep cystic breakouts develop, consult a dermatologist.
