Dryness & Flaking

My skin feels dry, tight, or is starting to flake after using a product.

Dryness & Flaking

Why This Happens

Active ingredients like salicylic acid, sulfur, and clay can temporarily reduce your skin's oil levels and increase cell turnover. This may cause mild dryness, tightness, or light flaking — especially in the first 1–2 weeks. It's a common adaptation response and usually resolves as your skin adjusts.

Normal — No Action Needed

  • Mild tightness after cleansing that fades within 10–15 minutes
  • Light flaking around treated areas during the first two weeks
  • Dryness that improves after applying moisturizer
!

Warning — Take Action

  • Severe tightness that doesn't improve with moisturizer
  • Cracked, raw, or sensitive-to-touch skin
  • Dryness spreading to areas where products were not applied
  • Skin feels "papery" or stiff throughout the day

What to Do

1

Add a lightweight moisturizer (like Panthenol Water Gel) after active products

2

Reduce frequency of drying products to every other day

3

If using a clay product, reduce to once a week temporarily

4

Avoid layering multiple drying actives in the same routine

5

Make sure you're not over-cleansing — once or twice daily is enough

When to Stop and Seek Help

If skin feels raw, cracked, or the dryness is spreading beyond treated areas, stop all active products and use only a gentle cleanser and moisturizer until your skin recovers. If it persists beyond 5 days, consult a dermatologist.
